This initiative has developed within this past school year. Parents and SLPs across the country have contacted BilingualResources.org to request guidance on assessment procedures, to ask questions about federal laws and compliance, and to suggest therapy materials in specific languages. I have mentored several new bilingual SLPs in New York, Georgia, and California as they enter the workforce.
Bilingual Resources for Therapist and Teachers is self-funded at the moment. I have hosted several community events to promote cultural diversity. For example, I collaborated with special needs high school students while fundraising for local charities.
The future plan is to create a platform in which SLPs can reserve time slots to call in with therapy and assessment questions. For now, SLPs can scroll through the TPT website to download free bilingual materials at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Bilingual-Resources-For-Therapists-And-Teachers.
See the Bilingual Resources for Therapists and Teachers website, Motor Skills Checklists [PDF] for middle and high school, or email Cristina Saldana at bilingualresources@yahoo.com.
